Pastime with Purpose (PWP) is a 501(c)3 organization that enlists the support of community activated pro athletes to raise awareness and deliver impact to underserved groups of people in the US and abroad.

Position: Social Media Intern
Description: PWP seeks a relatable and confident self-starter to assist with managing our social media accounts. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of media management while working for a fast-growing and highly public nonprofit organization based in sports and entertainment that serves not only on a national level, but international as well. Through this internship, you will gain real-world experience in building a following and managing social media accounts. Additionally, you will build a healthy portfolio filled with high-profile athletes and meaningful community service.

Responsibilities:

Update and maintain PWP's social media presence via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram

Assist in planning, writing and managing monthly social media strategy calendar

Update the PWP website when needed

Attend monthly social media meeting, including preparing agenda and strategy

Collaborating with staff on new ideas, directions, and venues for marketing and communications

Preferably be able to assist in content creation via Adobe software

Qualifications:

- Firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space

Completed or working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field (e.g., English,
Marketing/Communications, or Public Relations)

Ability to act professionally with high-profile public figures

Ability to naturally and genuinely interact with followers to create 2-way dialogue

Must be computer literate (working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, Excel). Proficiency in Adobe, InDesign and Photoshop highly desired. Knowledge of HTML and graphic design a plus!

Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines

Enthusiasm for nonprofit work, social media, and preferably baseball or sports in general

Start Date: Position open until filled, requires 3 – 6 month commitment.

Hours: 8 hours/week with one meeting/month to build strategy

Compensation: This is an Unpaid/Volunteer internship
